The 2008 election process has now concluded and several Board of Directors positions along with proposed changes to Chapter By-Laws were on the ballot.
Election Process:
1. Election Committee Member Selection
As stated in Article VI, Section 2 of the 2005 Bylaws - Nominations and Elections
A nominating committee shall comprise of the Immediate Past President as Chairman and two other members of PMI in good standing appointed by the Chairman. In the absence of the Immediate Past President, the President will act as Chairman.
As a result, the two members selected were Marie Hoskins-McDonald --who worked on our PDS teams and Cynthia Hoyos her participation in the Center of Excellence committee.
2. Selection/Screening Process
Committee members interviewed ALL prospective candidates using a panel selection process. This method allowed us to listen to the same answers and to assist expediting the process faster. We asked the SAME questions to members with the exception of current board members. An extra question was asked to current board members as follows: How do you think your current role has helped to shape the direction of the Chapter in the past months?” This gave the committee some insight to how the member progressed in their current role.
3. Voting Membership
Out of the 1,463 eligible members, a total of 270 members voted. In order to have a quorum a total of 10% needed to vote – which come up to 146 members. We got an astounding 270 votes!!!
The breakdown is as follows:
• 270 members voted (18%)
• 16 members viewed ballot but did NOT vote (1%)
• 1,177 members chose NOT participate (81%)
Prior to this dinner meeting, the Elections Committee performed electronic voting.
4. Election Tool
In order to better align our voting process with PMI Global, the tool Votenet was used. This independent process took away from using Chapter resources. Each member was given a unique username and password that ensured the member did vote. PMI administered the election tool; the committee only saw the results.
The elections committee thanks you for your participation.
