 Hello everybody! Well we made it through hurricane season safe and sound! Hope all is well with you as we close 2006.
Our annual fall seminar was a huge success - we had record turnout and the feedback was positive! We're so excited we've already started talking about what we want to accomplish for 2007 for our member seminars!
This is my last newsletter as 2006 Chapter President and next year I pass the torch to Ms. Teresa Colon as your 2007 Chapter President. I will miss serving you all as President very much and hope to stay involved with the Chapter and see you at dinner meetings as your Immediate Past President.

Volunteers are so appreciated since everyone generally has a paying job and family / friends. Any time taken to dedicate to others is taken from somewhere and I'm sure not only does the board appreciate the help but the members appreciate all the volunteers do as well.

Awards Ceremony - what's that about?
Volunteer Recognition and Thank You
Our Chapter board and committees are fully supported by you, our members. Over 100 of our over 1300 Chapter members have stood up to say 'I'm available to help' as volunteers and we appreciate your efforts. Most all of you all have families and 'real' jobs and we know that taking time to give back to our members is a most generous use of your time. Of course you get PDUs for volunteering and loads of experience you may never get otherwise, but it still takes time.
In recognition of our volunteers, once a year we have a short Awards Ceremony usually at the first dinner meeting of the year. Last year we held the ceremony in March along with our Chapter 20th Anniversary Party. Stay tuned as Kathy Ericsson, PMP and VP Membership, plans our 2006 awards program to be held in 2007.

Our board Strategic Planning session was September 30th. We developed our 2007 plan and programs for you based on your feedback and requests. Once a year PMI Global Operations Center (GOC) holds a Leadership meeting for Component board members. It provides an opportunity for us to meet with other Component chairs to exchange ideas, value add programs and other member benefit ideas. From this exchange of ideas and best practices with Component board members, we created our own lists of action items and ideas for the different South Florida Chapter board departments.
