Summer is finally here and 4th of July celebrations are done!

How time flies!

We are at the half way mark of this year and I wanted to share some of our Chapter accomplishments.

• Greatest turnout for one of our Chapter Dinner meetings in February “State of the PMO Nation”
• Our 5th Annual Job Fair that included Construction industry companies, advertising with the local radio stations and an all around fun time
• Our first dinner meeting collaboration with the PMI Information Systems Specific Interest Group on “Scrum Methodology”
• Participation at Broward School Fair, ITSMF Event, National Association of Women in Construction, and meeting with local universities to further develop our Outreach program.
• A Leadership event with Dr James Brown that had the highest reviews ever
• An Education Strategy (http://www.southfloridapmi.org/publicfiles/education/strategy/EN/player.html) covering certifications, standards, competencies, and mentoring. Our main goal is to be closer to our members and ensure that the programs offered boost your professional careers. Expansion of our education offerings delivering our famous PMP, CAPM and Booster prep courses, Podcasts on the PMI Standards and a Mentoring Program
• Another collaborative effort with ITWomen on “Best Practices in Project Management”
• A new and improved website that will promote the PMI South Florida Chapter brand on the Internet

And more importantly a membership of 1,504 as of June 2007 with a total of 837 PMPs which is 56% of total membership!

Your board is still working on these and other initiatives that will add value to your membership.

I am sure we are getting “Back to Basics” and I look forward to the next 6 months.
