We just celebrated our 25th anniversary and the Board is excited about this year and the menu of programs, events and activities planned for 2012.  Our Chapter’s theme for this year is
“Creating Value Through Innovative Programs and Local Leadership with a Global Mindset.”
In this world of rapid changes and open borders localized knowledge is not enough, we need to acquire a global mindset to succeed in business.  But how do we do this?
A global mindset is defined as one that combines an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures and markets with a propensity and ability to synthesize across this diversity.
In thinking about how to achieve a global mindset, it is critical to remember that the key word is cultivation and that the quest for a global mindset is a ceaseless journey.  Living in a complex and dynamic world, as we do, the extent to which one could continue to explore the world’s diversity as well as the linkages across this diversity has no boundaries.
Organizations, their employees and the culture in the organization need to be internationally oriented, to have a global mindset.  This includes most importantly the courage and enthusiasm to operate internationally.  Moreover, hiring people with complimentary language skills and different cultural backgrounds are also important. This may result in an organization that is tuned to global business. It is not just about communicating, but actually cooperating with different people in different environments.
Stay tune to chapter communications, visit our website and participate in chapter events.  Better yet, get involve and volunteer.  I look forward to meet you at one of this year’s event!

PDU Update

The PDD and your PDUs:

This year's 2-day PDD event was a resounding success. If you were unable to attend, we hope to see you there in 2012! Please be aware that the Activity Code in the PDD booklet had a typo. The code should read:  "PDD2011-04." Also please be aware that effective March 1, 2011, PMI changed the structure of PDU codes; therefore the category for the PDD is no longer 3, it is now category "A."
